and so i'm back from outer space...
happy new year everyone!! ok ok it's in about 2 and a half hours time but... advance wish ya? i'm back... i came home yesterday but too tired to do anything. i slept like a log!! camp these past few days' been an eye opener. i think it's a great experience. im not lying. i find it rather exciting... it's a new challenge in my life. so i guess it's interesting. i realised your english deteriorates the longer you stay in camp!! hahah.. how bout that?? me company sergeants and officers speak horrendous english.. really. bad grammar.. i know i suffer from that from time to time. but theirs... constantly.. pronounciation... i can write a whole new chapter on that..
punctuations of every sentence no longer made up of fullstops but hokkien vulgarities and the f word.. and there are various ways of using the f word!! i'll compile a list the next time i blog.. hahaha.. it's reallie amazing how people with power can dictate your life... i think national service is fun.. so far.. yet i have this strong hatred for the regimentation of the system. i dun want this blog to become mundane rantings of national service life. so i'll stop here. i'll only talk about the interesting stuff.. i think holding a rifle is damn cool!!!! i detest the ownership of any kind of weapons.. but when you are issued a rifle... it's a fabulous feeling you cannot describe!!! hahah..
watched mona lisa smile today.. i think it's a feel good/heart-warming show... i wouldn't call it a must watch. but it should be considered... it's good. but not so much oscar-worthy. even further, it pales in comparison to moives of such tae and genre.. films such as dead poets society and mr holland's opus which i personally recommend to watch!! overall, the A-list cast didn't help julia roberts to perhaps clinch that oscar nominations.. but maybe she will.. oh well. we'll have to wait and see. kirsten dunst shines as the campus bitch. i think her character's the most developed and we grop to hate her. which makes her a good actress.. i was quite dissapointed with julia stiles performance. maybe not so much the performance as it is the character development. i think her situation should be further developed and not be left as that. holistically though, mona lisa smile lacks the nuances of mona lisa's smile and there's not much to be uncovered in this movie. everything is laid out for you right from the beginning. but the appeal is still there. i really enjoyed the movie and would love to watch it again if given the chance. as far as recommendation... i'd say different people has different opinions... so consider the movie. maybe you'll see it in a different light.
